Volunteer Matching
We connect people interested in donating their time and talents to serve the community with volunteer opportunities. See the GET INVOLVED link to become a Maui United Way volunteer or click on VolunteerHawaii to find other volunteer opportunities. For more information, email info@mauiunitedway.org or call 244-8787.
Fund Distribution
We convene community residents and business leaders to efficiently and effectively fund our health and human services partner agencies. We are seeking interested Maui County residents and business leaders to discuss needs, review grant applications, make agency site visits, deliberate on appropriate resource distributions, and explore ways to improve community conditions. For more information, email info@mauiunitedway.org or call 244-8787.
Gifts In-Kind Program
Cleaning out furniture, computers or office supplies? Donate where it is needed most! Often times, financial support is not the only assistance non-profit organizations need. Through the Gifts In-Kind program, Maui United Way acquires donated items such as computers, personal care products, entertainment tickets, and clothing from local and national businesses, and distributes them to health and human service agencies throughout Maui. We accept various In-Kind donations to support our partner agencies. See our DONATE ONLINE link for specific items.
If you’re claiming a tax deduction:
- You can deduct your contributions only if you make them to a qualified organization.
- Volunteers can only claim certain out-of-pocket expenses.
- Deductions for property or goods would be the fair market value of the property at the time it is donated.
Visit www.irs.gov for forms and more information.

Labor’s Community Services Liaison Program
The AFL-CIO Community Services Network is made of over 240 state and local liaisons who serve as links between their state federations, central labor councils and United Ways across the United States. The Network works to improve the lives of workers and their families by meeting their human and social needs and empowering workers and their unions to improve their communities. This program is offered in partnership with the United Way Statewide Association of Hawaii.
In Hawaii, there are three full-time AFL-CIO Community Services liaisons who staff the Labor Community Services Program. Together, they coordinate and provide valuable services to union members and their communities by:
Assisting local unions in establishing community services committees and programs.
- Providing important information and referral services to union members, their families, laid-off employees and members on strike.
- Conducting educational training programs.
- Coordinating labor’s participation in the annual United Way campaigns.
- Implementing food drives and various community projects.
