Fund DistributionMaui United Way: Making a difference—doing what mattersTo ensure accountability and effectiveness, all Maui United Way Partner Agencies must participate in an annual certification process. Certification requirements check management and governance policies, program policies, and ensure the overall administrative and financial stability of each organization. Agencies must meet certification requirements before their programs can be considered for funding. Thirty community leaders and volunteers serve on our Fund Distribution Committee. They examine community needs, review agency grants, visit agencies and review their programs, and deliberate to ensure that donor contributions our meeting critical needs. These site visits, combined with a careful review of program goals and objectives, help determine which programs are most effective. This information is used by the volunteers to make the final determinations about how Maui United Way funds will be spent. Once the Fund Distribution Committee has made their funding decisions, their decisions are submitted to Maui United Way’s Board of Directors for final approval. Upon final approval, dollars are distributed to Partner Agencies for the selected programs.
The Fund Distribution process will begin
again in May 2009. |
