Please support your Maui United Way in rebuilding a strong and vibrant community.
FUNDING FOR NONPROFIT COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Maui United Way has a long history of supporting local community organizations and our focus on fire recovery efforts does not change our commitment to existing partners. Funds from the annual campaign will continue to support local nonprofits through MEW's annual Community Impact grant application process. Beyond direct funding, we will convene nonprofits to increase coordination across agencies and build their capacity so that together, we can fill gaps and meet the needs of our diverse population.
Lahania Arts Guild, our agency partner of the year.
With your help, Lahaina Arts Guild is bringing joy and self-expression to children who have been displaced by the fires.
ACCESS
Accessing disaster funding is difficult when you have lost your phone and computer and gone through a traumatic experience. Maui United Way staff and volunteers spent long days at the Disaster Recovery Centers to ensure individuals with limited technology skills or no access to the internet could apply for emergency financial assistance while connecting those who needed translation assistance to 211 operators who provide information in 150 languages.
PARTNERSHIP
Rotarians across Maui and around the world stepped up in partnership with Maui United Way distributing gift cards to pharmicies & gas stations while other generous corporate donors provided phone chargers, toiletry kits and PPE.
MAHALO
A huge mahalo to donors who felt compelled to help a community that holds a special place in their heart, including a family from California who said, "When we heard about the devastating fires and loss of life in Maui, we felt a responsibility to respond. the island has provided so much joy to our family; it was our turn to give back to this very special community."
