Kapua was born and raised on the west side of Oʻahu in Māʻili and has called Maui home for the past 17 years, where she lives with her kāne and three keiki. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, she went on to attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to pursue a degree in Education before finding her calling in environmental education and conservation within the nonprofit sector.
Over the past decade, Kapua has grown into nonprofit leadership roles focused on grant writing and fund development. Her strengths in facilitation, strategic planning, program coordination, grants management, and cultural competence have allowed her to work closely with organizations across the state. She is deeply committed to serving community and is known for her ability to build bridges between people and systems through culturally grounded approaches.
Guided by aloha and grounded in kuleana, Kapua strives to empower community members, support vulnerable populations across Maui Nui, and partner with others to build a more resilient and thriving kaiāulu. In her role as Director of Development, she will lead our efforts to strengthen relationships and steward the resources that make our work possible.
