March 2026 – Maui United Way is inviting residents across Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi to participate in a countywide Community Needs Survey aimed at strengthening Maui County’s future. The survey is open now through March 6, takes about 10 minutes to complete, and is designed to gather community feedback that will shape funding, programs, and long-term planning across Maui Nui. Whether you are a resident, nonprofit partner, small business owner, caregiver, kūpuna, parent, or community advocate, your voice matters.

As Maui County continues disaster recovery efforts and focuses on long-term resilience, understanding community needs is critical. Reliable local data helps ensure that resources are directed where they are needed most.

The Community Needs Survey will inform:

  • Maui United Way’s three- to five-year strategic plan
  • Future grantmaking and nonprofit funding priorities
  • Disaster preparedness and community resiliency planning
  • Food security initiatives across Maui County
  • Affordable housing and homelessness response efforts
  • Mental health and family support programs
  • Data-driven advocacy at the county and state levels

By participating, residents help identify unmet needs, emerging challenges, and opportunities for stronger partnerships across Maui Nui.

“Our community’s strength has always been rooted in pilina and shared responsibility,” said Jeeyun Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Maui United Way. “By hearing directly from residents, service providers, and partners, we can ensure that our investments and collaborations reflect what our kaiāulu truly needs.” Community-driven input ensures that Maui United Way’s investments align with real experiences on the ground—supporting recovery today while building long-term systems that are more resilient tomorrow.

All survey responses will remain confidential. Findings will be compiled into a public summary report to promote transparency, accountability, and shared understanding across the community.
For more than 80 years, Maui United Way has served Maui County through collective impact and community-centered solutions. This Community Needs Survey represents an important step in shaping a stronger, more resilient Maui Nui for generations to come.
