Maui Youth & Family Services, in partnership with Maui United Way and Sentry’s Mālama Nā Keiki Initiative, is expanding its wildfire-focused mental health efforts into a second year. Guided by lei po‘ina ‘ole ke keiki, “a lei never forgotten is the beloved child”, the program will provide counseling, substance use support, and culturally grounded prevention services through schools, community sites, and residential programs. With key partners like Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui and YouthLine, the initiative includes professional trainings for over 100 providers, support for roughly 150 families, and direct services to nearly 1,400 youth. Since its launch in November 2023, the initiative has received a total of $3 million from Sentry Insurance.
